I'll admit that there is one good thing about George W. Bush's capture of the presidency: the country will no doubt be governable with him as president. If Gore had won, I'd be concerned about right-wing extremists going over the edge. My guess is that even most Republicans would agree that the extreme end of the Democratic party is smaller and less scary than the extreme end of the Republican party.
